Mold Air Quality Testing in Los Angeles
Air sampling that compares the airborne fungal spores inside your home or business with an outdoor sample, even when no mold is visible.

How air sampling works
We draw a measured volume of air through a spore trap cassette in each area of concern, plus an outdoor control sample. An independent accredited laboratory analyzes the spores and fungal structures captured on each cassette. Your report compares indoor results to the outdoor baseline, room by room.
When air testing makes sense
- You notice a musty smell but cannot find the source.
- Someone in the home has symptoms that seem to ease when they leave.
- There was a leak or flood and you want to know whether mold followed.
- You need documentation for a landlord, buyer, or insurance adjuster.
What air testing does not do
The U.S. EPA has not set federal limits for mold or mold spores, so no single number means a home is safe or unsafe. Air sampling is also a snapshot of conditions at the time the sample is collected. That is why we compare indoor and outdoor samples, look at the types of spores found, and interpret the results together with the inspection and moisture conditions, then explain them in plain language.
Air Quality Testing FAQs
- How much does air quality testing for mold cost in Los Angeles?
- The visit starts with a $49 inspection. If air sampling is appropriate, the inspector explains the number of samples and the lab fee before anything is collected, and the $49 is waived when you proceed with testing during the visit. Most homes need two to four samples including an outdoor control.
- How many air samples do I need?
- At least one indoor sample per area of concern plus one outdoor control sample for comparison. A typical house needs two to four samples. Larger homes, multiple floors or several problem rooms need more. The inspector recommends the count on site, and nothing is sampled without your approval.
- How long do air quality test results take?
- Samples go to an independent accredited laboratory and you receive the written report in 24 to 48 hours. Rush options are available if you have an escrow or insurance deadline.
- Can air testing find hidden mold?
- Often, yes. Elevated indoor spore counts compared with the outdoor control, or spore types that do not match outdoors, point to a hidden source such as inside a wall, under flooring or in the HVAC system. Air testing does not pinpoint the exact spot, so the inspector pairs it with moisture readings and a visual inspection.
- What does the air quality report include?
- Laboratory spore counts by type for every sample, the outdoor comparison, dated photos of each sampling location, the inspector's observations and moisture readings, and plain-language conclusions you can share with a landlord, buyer, contractor or insurance adjuster.
